The city of Florence is served by two airports: the Amerigo Vespucci airport in Florence, which is in the North area of the city, and the Galileo Galilei airport in Pisa. This one is connected with Florence by the train and some busses

Florence Airport Amerigo Vespucci

Information

The Amerigo Vespucci airport is one of the main door for reach Florence. It was just restructured and in it is possible to find: handicap services, parking for long and short stay, congress room, thicket office and information office.

Connections and Parking

The Florence airport is located in the north-west city area. It’s connected at the center of city about some bus line and taxi. Init there are also large parking for long or short stops for about 800 car.

The bus connection is called “Volainbus” a ship transfer service which connect the airport to the train station, in the centre of Florence, in about 30 minutes (the are no stops)

The ticket is sell directly on the bas and cost about 4 euro. The service is working from 5.30 am till 21.00 (last bus leaving time) about any 30 minutes.

Handicap

The airport team have a particolare care to the people who need assistance. These travelers are assisted during embarkation, accompanied on-board and awaited at arrival. Facilities for disabled passengers are available, such as wheel chairs, free medical and paramedical assistance, toilettes, telephone booths and parking spaces in addition to an embarking/disembarking elevator vehicle. An assistance request facility is located outside of the departure terminal.

Business Fly

For all the people who fly for businnes or just need to use it, there is available a working area in Sala Masaccio (first floor). In this area there is a computer with internet and print. To have free access to the Sala Masaccio is necessary show the boarding card. Peaple who fly only with hand bagage can do the check in directly on Sala Masaccio.

From the airport work the main rent car company, some of which are open also on Sunday.

Pisa airport Galileo Galilei

Disabled

The Galileo Galilei airport give assistance to the people who need it at the moment of the board thank to special equipment. Wheelchair users can be boarded by means of special ramp equipment - movable lounge - with an elevating platform. Pacemaker users ca use special passages for the security check. The airport is equipped with special facilities for the disabled: reserved parking spaces both in the short-term and in the multilevel car park, toilets with specially designed sanitary fittings, telephone for people with impaired hearing, ramps and lift providing access to the services located on the first floor of the air terminal.

How to reach Florence

By car (Pisa is 80 km from Florence): Autostrada A11 Pisa-Firenze or la Superstrada Firenze-Pisa-Livorno.

By train The airport of Pisa is connected to the Florence train station of Santa Maria Novella by 8 train one hour long.

The railway is out the airport (leaving hall), but is possible to by the train tickets at the information office (Arrival Terminal).
