1st one day tour: Museums

Main visit advised:

Tour: from the Train Station go in direction south for few metres since Piazza Unità d'Italia (there is an obelisc). Take Via del Melarancio. You will arrive in Piazza San Lorenzo, in which there is the Church of San Lorenzo (the front part of the church it was never builded) and the Cappelle Medicee. Take the road in front of the church and you will be in Via Martelli. on your left corner there is Palazzo Medici Riccardi. The church on your right is San Giovannino degli Scolopi. Turn left and go straight on direction North. You will arrive in the Piazza San Marco. Here there is the omominum church and monastery, with the Painting of Beato Angelico, and an ancient library. Cross the square ( the church is on your left) and take Via Ricasoli, direction south (turn right). on your left there is the entrance for the Accademia. Here there is the original copy of David di Michelangelo and the Prigioni (the prisoners, some sculptures which "try to escape from the marm)

At the exit from Accademia, take Via Ricasoli in direction North. Turn right at the first road (Via Battistini) and you will arrive in Piazza Santissima Anunziata. on your left there is the Marian Church of Santissima Annunziata. In front, in the square it is open the portico of ex-orfanotropy: ospedale degli Innocenti, made from the project of Bruneleschi and with the medallion decoration by Andrea della Robbia. Take the ospedale degli Innocenti on left and take Via dei Servi.

You will have in front of you the back of Duomo. Circle the Duomo in direction north (have the Duomo on your left) to take a look to the Battistero. Stay with the Duomo on your right and Battistero on your left and take the road in front of you. (If you prefer you can circle the Duomo in the opposit direction and arrive at the same point in less time. This is Via Calzaiuoli. At the right corner there is the Loggia della Misericordia. Follow Via Calzaiuoli and you will arrive in front of Palazzo Vecchio. At the left of Palazzo Vecchio there is a beautiful Fountain of Neptune. This fountain is called "Biancone" (the big white) from Florentine people which didn't love, from when it's made, the bigger statue. At the right there is the Loggia dei Lanzi (or Loggia d'orcagna)in which there are conserved some beautiful statues.

From the Palazzo Vecchio and Loggia d'orcagna, there is the Galleria degli Uffizi.


Important Notes about Galleria degli Uffizi:


After the Visit is possible have a walk on the Ponte Vecchio. This Bridge, the only one which survived at the Second Wold Word, is covered by shops like in XVI century.

Crossed the Ponte Vecchio, straight on. You will reach Palazzo Pitti. If it's not to late you can enter in the bigger garden inside the Palace, Giardino di Boboli, and Relax your feet.

2nd one day tour: All the city in one look

Tour: from the Train Station go in direction south for few metres since Piazza Unità d'Italia (there is an obelisc). on your Left there is the Abside of the Church of Santa Maria Novella. Circle the church for visit it. After the visit of this church come back to the obelisc Via del Melarancio. Pass in the middle of Galleria degli Uffizi and reach the Arno river. In fron of you there is the Ponte Vecchio Cross the ridge end reach Palazzo Pitti. U-turn and cross again the Ponte Vecchio. Go straight on in Via Por Santa Maria. At the middle of the street there is the Porcellino Market. Having the market on your left and the Arno river on your back, turn right ad came back to Piazza della Signoria. Take the road from Palazzo Vecchio end the Fountain of Neptune. Go on and take Borgo dei Greci. You will arrive in front of Piazza Santa Croce. In this Square, in some days of the year, is played the "Calcio Storico Fiorentino" (Historical Florence football). In front the beautiful Church of Santa Croce in which there are some tomb and monuments.
