How to arrive at Florence by Train

In Florence there are three stations: Stazione di Rifredi, Stazione di Campo di Marte and Stazione Centrale di Santa Maria Novella. This station is the main station. It's in the center of Florence and it's connected by train to the others.
The Stazione Leopolda, is the old Florence station, but now it's just a exposition center.

Information

The Santa Maria Novella station is one of the 13 station of network Grandi stazioni, of Ferrovie dello Stato group.
It was innaugurated the 30th of october 1935. It was builded on the project of a grouop of architects called Gruppo toscano, which was guided by Giovanni Michelucci.
The team, which won the competion for the station project, was composed by some of the most important arquitectes of the '900 as Berardi, Gamberini, Guarnieri and Lusann. The station is considered one of the most important example of Italian Realis in arquitecture.
The station in in the center of the city close to Santa Maria Novella church. Into the station there are works of Italo Griselli, ottone Rosai and Mario Romoli.

Inside the station there is a tiket office (06.00 am – 10.00 pm) and a tiket machine.

The train information office is close to the tiket office an works from 7.00 am to 9.00 pm Ph. 0039 055.23.52.595.

Into the station there is the luggage deposit office (6.00 - 0.00 ph. 055.2352190). the price is per baggage is: 3,80 € (first 5th hours); 0,60 € per hour from 6th to 12th hour and 0,20 € from the 13th one

The toilets are open from 6.00 am to 12.00 pm. The cost is 0,70 €


Connections and Parking

The Santa Maria Novella station is connected to the main Italian and european station by raillwa, directly or with change lines.
There is a well connection from/to the Pisa Airport and in Florence Station there is the Pisa air Terminal, where is possible to do the Check-in for the airport from 6.30 am to 3.30 pm
The station is in the center of a communication net. Around the station there are city bus stop (ATAF company) and the extra-urban bus station of SITA and LAZZI.
Under the station there is a underparking. To arrive in it is necessary to follow the notice.
From the parking and the station there is a shopping gallery, which is connected to the station by a perron and a sliding scale.

Disables

About 900 trains Eurostar has coach for disables. The Florence station is not equiped for disable. For people which use wheelchair is important to know that there are is a perron to reach the station from Via Alammanni, and there are steps also in the other station doors.

To reach the shops gallery is possible use a ramp coming from Via Alammanni, but not from the other way.


Business Tourism

Very close to the station there is the Congress Centre (on the other side in Piazza Adua, on the left having the train on your back). The Fortezza da Basso is close too. It's 300 metres far. Exit from Piazza Adua side and turn on left. There is organize Pitti Immagine.

Car Rental

The AVIS rent car is in Via della Scala, not too far from the station.

The rent car is 3,5 km far from the station and to reach it is necessary pass from the perron od Via Alamanni or from Piazza della Stazione. For this reason can be convenient leave the baggage at the deposit and take them in a second moment.
